What is PFA?

Psychological First Aid (PFA), a compassionate approach and vital intervention, plays a crucial role to facilitate people who have experienced traumatic event.

PFA focuses on making them feel safe, provide emotional support, encourage social support, and coping strategies immediately after the event.

PFA is helpful in situations like:

  • natural disasters (floods, earthquake)
  • man-made disasters (group violence)
  • personal crisis (losing loved one)
  • community trauma (accidents)

Individuals can provide PFA are:

  • mental health professionals (psychologists, counselors, therapists)
  • healthcare providers
  • emergency responders
  • trained volunteers
  • community leaders
